Family Based Care Tasmania provides a wide range of support services to older people to help them live independently in their homes and their community for longer. Depending on your eligibility and situation we can offer support services under the following programs:
Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
CHSP provides entry-level home support for older people who need assistance to keep living independently at home and in their community. Under this program funding can be provided for up to 5 hours of per week.
If you think you may need more than 5 hours of support each week then we can offer additional hours of support under the following programs:
Services under this program are delivered across the North West Coast, including the West Coast and King Island.
Cottage Respite in Beautiful Burnie, Tasmania
Family Based Care Tasmania has Cottage Respite available for eligible clients.
Cottage Respite can provide a more home like setting, unlike traditional respite provided in Aged Care Facilities. Our comfortable two-bedroom unit is part of a new build, on acreage with a rural outlook, and is designed for overnight or short stay respite (up to three nights).
Located in beautiful Burnie on the North West Coast of Tasmania, beside the rolling waves of Bass Strait, this could be the ideal place for you or your loved ones to take a break in a safe and comfortable environment.
Trained staff are available for support as required, and respite can be funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or a Home Care Package (HCP).

Home Care Packages
A Home Care Package is government supplied funding for senior Australians needing care. If you are eligible for this funding you can use it to access a range of services to help you at home and connect with your community. A Home Care Package includes services that help you live independently in your own home for longer – you choose when, where and how you need support. Services under this program are delivered statewide.
Self-Funded Services
Family Based Care Tasmania provides support services to people who are not eligible for government funded support or people who need more services than they are entitled to under government funded programs.
